Be WISE is a science, technology, engineering and math camp (STEM) designed to develop interest, excitement, and self confidence in young women who are entering grades 7 or 8 in the fall of 2018.
The camp began in the summer of 1989 and since then over 3,700 girls have completed the camp program. This summer will be the camp’s 31st year.
Be WISE Camp’s mission is to develop interest, excitement, and self-confidence in middle school girls in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). We hope to provide the girls with the confidence and motivation to enroll in more STEM classes at the high school and college levels to prepare them for careers in a STEM field. Our camp is designed to provide real-life, hands-on experiences in STEM using problem solving and thinking skills.
This residential camp for 160 girls will be held from June 10-15, 2018. It features a separate curriculum for each grade to provide real-life, hands-on STEM activities with problem solving and thinking skills as the primary focus. Maximum interaction and instruction is encouraged with a ratio of 2 teachers per 12 to 16 girls. And of course, what would camp be without activities such as swimming, coding, yard games, etc.
The camp is located on the campus of Denison University in Granville, OH. This experience includes sleeping and eating in a college dorm, learning in modern science labs and using campus recreational areas.
